39th Annual MLK Day/Week Events Workshops are Zoom Webinars Workshops will take place from Tuesday, January 12th - Saturday, January 16th as Zoom Webinars. This past year has put issues of white supremacy, racism, anti-racism, and police brutality in high relief. Our workshops will reflect these themes. MLK Day Peace Vigil at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor
Fri Jan 15, 1 - 4 pm, Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action will host a (physical) vigil at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor on Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday. Participants will meet at 1 pm at Ground Zero Center, 16159 Clear Creek Rd. NW, Poulsbo, to prepare, and will leave GZ Center to arrive at the Bangor Main Gate at 2 pm for the vigil, which will last approximately one hour. No civil disobedience/resistance is planned. Signs and banners will be supplied; bring your nonviolent spirit and FACE MASK. We will be following best COVID-prevention practices, including face masks, hand-washing and social-distancing. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes; it is a short (less than 15 minute) walk from Ground Zero Center to the Main Gate. A vehicle will be available for anyone needing assistance in getting to the gate. Following the vigil, we will return to Ground Zero Center for a closing circle before heading home.
