SCHOOL OF AMERICAS WATCH BOOKCLUB ON DISMANTLING BORDERS Sun March 27, 4 pm Westcoast time, Zoom Read and discuss "Border and Rule: Global Migration, Capitalism, and the Rise of Racist Neoliberalism" by Harsha Walia Third meeting of the Dismantling Borders Book Club. If you are unable to join us this time, you are still welcome to join the other meetings, which will take place every other week. You can order the book and immediately download a digital version at https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1553-border-and-rule The Dismantling Borders Book Club is a virtual space hosted by the SOA Watch Staff Collective where we come together to read, analyze, and discuss contemporary works by scholars, experts, and movement leaders working/organizing around issues of mass migration in the context of increasingly hyper militarized borders. As we step into our 33rd year since the founding of the SOA Watch, we move to continuously deepen our shared analysis of U.S. foreign policies and militarization, their measurable links to the mass displacement of impoverished Black and Brown communities throughout the hemisphere, and the ever-expanding U.S. prison and immigrant detention systems. Through chapter reviews, guiding questions, and open discussions, we seek to sharpen our tools/expand our knowledge while applying lessons into our own lives and community work. We invite you to bring your thoughts, questions, and experiences, as we dive into the Dismantling Borders Book Club inaugural book selection. Schedule of meetings: Sun February 13th.
