Sat Jan 18, 1:30 – 3 pm, at Beacon Hill Library (across the street from the light rail station, 2821 Beacon Ave S., Seattle 98144 Seattle Anti-War Coalition prioritizes actions and events, so our general meetings are few and far between. Please come to the Meeting to learn from our new coalition member, International Coalition on Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP), and hear a talk on Syria from Veterans For Peace member Michael Sims: "Michael finished his dissertation in Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Washington in 2023. His research focused on Ottoman history, and the development of Kurdish and Assyrian nationalism in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. He lived for about three and a half years in Turkey and a year and a half in Amman, Jordan. He now works in an unrelated field (as a data analyst for Washington State's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation), but still maintains his connection to Middle East Studies through a few ongoing research projects, and consuming Arabic, Turkish, and Kurdish news sources, lest his language skills atrophy. Michael was just elected Secretary of the Veterans For Peace Daniel Ellsberg Chapter, #92, Seattle for 2025."
