ABOLISH NUCLEAR WEAPONS
VIGIL AND THANK YOU VISIT TO CITY COUNCIL
Tues Dec 3, 5:30 pm vigil, 6 pm Olympia City Council meeting, outside and inside Olympia City Hall, 601 4th Avenue E, Olympia
Nihon Hidankyo, the organization representing the Hibakusha (nuclear weapon survivors) will be awarded the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on December 10th, Human Rights Day. This is a huge moment of recognition for their lifetime of commitment and courage. It is also a moment to recognize our shared efforts for nuclear disarmament- and that even when times are tough we can still make positive change. In Oslo, there will be a torchlight procession to honor Nihon Hidankyo.
Join Olympia Coalition to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (OCANW) which includes Olympia Chapter Fellowship of Reconciliation, at the vigil and Olympia Council meeting. We will share the good news about this year’s Nobel Peace Prize with the Olympia City Council and express our appreciation of their ongoing support of efforts to ban nuclear weapon. A representative of OCANW will address and thank the Council at their subsequent meeting. This candlelight vigil at Olympia city hall is one of many suggested by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons(ICANW)
Sponsored by OCANW. Candles will be provided for those who join us. Hope that will be you!
