PEACE AND CLIMATE: OUR MOVEMENTS ARE LINKED

Seattle Fellowship of Reconciliation presents Mary Paterson and Christa Erwin on “Peace and Climate: Our Movements are Linked.” The presentation explores the intersection of US militarism and the climate crisis, including fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions, environmental pollution, climate injustice, and how the media supports military dominance of financial resources, draining dollars away from the Green New Deal.

Mary and Christa are both involved in the antiwar movement in Seattle and simultaneously participate in 350 Seattle’s climate justice movement.  In the fall of 2019, 350 Seattle took the step of joining the Seattle Antiwar Coalition (SAWC) and the WA Against Nuclear Weapons (WANW) coalition because of the intrinsic connection between fossil fuels and militarism, and between militarism and the climate crisis.
